Declaration Statements

Declaration Statements Guidelines

Guidelines for preparing Artificial Intelligence Statement, Author Contribution Statement, Funding Statement, and Conflict of Interest Statement for manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Absis.

To ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical publication practice, all manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Absis must include declaration statements. These statements must be completed by the authors and included in the manuscript before the reference list.

The required statements are:

  1. Artificial Intelligence Statement
  2. Author Contribution Statement
  3. Funding Statement
  4. Conflict of Interest Statement

Placement in the Manuscript

The declaration statements should be placed after the Acknowledgment section and before the References section, using the following order:

  1. Acknowledgment
  2. Artificial Intelligence Statement
  3. Author Contribution Statement
  4. Funding Statement
  5. Conflict of Interest Statement
  6. References

1. Artificial Intelligence Statement

Authors must disclose whether generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools or AI-assisted technologies were used in preparing the manuscript. AI tools must not be listed as authors. The authors remain fully responsible for the content, accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript.

If no AI tool was used, authors may write:

The authors did not use generative AI or AI-assisted tools in conducting this research or preparing this manuscript.

If AI was used only for grammar, language editing, or style improvement, authors may write:

The authors used ChatGPT/OpenAI only to assist with grammar checking, language polishing, and improving the clarity of the manuscript. The authors reviewed, edited, and verified all content and remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript.

If AI was used to support manuscript preparation more broadly, authors must describe its use clearly, for example:

The authors used ChatGPT/OpenAI to assist with language editing and improving the readability of several sections of the manuscript. The AI tool was not used to generate research data, conduct data analysis, draw conclusions, or replace the authors’ scholarly judgment. The authors reviewed and verified all AI-assisted outputs.

2. Author Contribution Statement

All manuscripts must include an Author Contribution Statement. This statement explains the specific contribution of each author to the research and manuscript preparation. Jurnal Absis recommends using the CRediT Contributor Roles Taxonomy to ensure transparency and accountability.

Authors should only list roles that truly reflect each author’s actual contribution. General, honorary, or gift authorship is not acceptable. Each author may have more than one contribution role.

CRediT Contribution Categories

Contribution Role Description
Conceptualization Developing the main idea, research objectives, research questions, or overall direction of the study.
Methodology Designing the research methods, procedures, instruments, models, or analytical approaches used in the study.
Software Developing, programming, using, or managing software, code, applications, or digital tools needed for the research or analysis.
Validation Checking and verifying the accuracy, validity, reliability, credibility, or consistency of the data, instruments, analysis, or findings.
Formal Analysis Conducting statistical, mathematical, qualitative, computational, or other formal analysis of the research data.
Investigation Carrying out the research process, collecting data, conducting observations, interviews, experiments, trials, or fieldwork.
Resources Providing research materials, references, instruments, data sources, facilities, participants, equipment, or other resources needed for the study.
Data Curation Organizing, managing, cleaning, coding, storing, or preparing data so that it can be analyzed and reported properly.
Writing – Original Draft Writing the initial version of the manuscript, including the introduction, method, results, discussion, or other main sections.
Writing – Review & Editing Reviewing, revising, editing, improving, or providing critical feedback on the manuscript before submission or publication.
Visualization Preparing tables, figures, diagrams, charts, illustrations, or other visual elements used in the manuscript.
Supervision Providing academic guidance, research supervision, mentorship, or oversight during the research and manuscript preparation process.
Project Administration Managing and coordinating research activities, schedules, communication, documentation, permissions, or administrative processes.
Funding Acquisition Obtaining financial support, grants, sponsorship, or institutional funding for the research.

Recommended format:

[Author Initials]: Conceptualization, Methodology, Investigation, Data Curation, Formal Analysis, Writing – Original Draft, and Visualization. [Author Initials]: Validation, Writing – Review & Editing, Supervision, and Project Administration. [Author Initials]: Resources, Validation, Writing – Review & Editing, and Supervision.

Example:

RJT: Conceptualization, Methodology, Investigation, Data Curation, Formal Analysis, Writing – Original Draft, and Visualization. S: Validation, Writing – Review & Editing, Supervision, and Project Administration. AA: Resources, Validation, Writing – Review & Editing, and Supervision.

Example for a single-author manuscript:

The author contributed to all aspects of the study, including Conceptualization, Methodology, Investigation, Data Curation, Formal Analysis, Writing – Original Draft, Writing – Review & Editing, and Visualization.

3. Funding Statement

Authors must disclose all sources of financial support for the research, including grants, institutional funding, scholarships, sponsorship, or other financial support. If the research received no funding, this must also be stated clearly.

If the research received funding, authors may write:

This research was funded by [Name of Funding Agency], grant number [Grant Number].

Example:

This research was funded by Bima Kemendiktisaintek, grant number 125/C3/DT.05.00/PL/2025.

If the research received no funding, authors may write:

This research received no specific grant from any funding agency in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.

4. Conflict of Interest Statement

Authors must disclose any potential conflict of interest that could influence the research, interpretation of results, or publication process. Conflicts of interest may include financial, professional, institutional, academic, or personal relationships.

If there is no conflict of interest, authors may write:

The authors declare no conflict of interest.

If there is a potential conflict of interest, authors must describe it clearly, for example:

The authors declare that [describe the potential conflict of interest]. The authors confirm that this relationship did not influence the research process, data analysis, interpretation of findings, or manuscript preparation.

Important Notes for Authors

  • All declaration statements must be written in English.
  • The editorial team may request clarification or revision if the declaration statements are incomplete, unclear, or inconsistent.
