Withdrawal, Correction, and Retraction

Withdrawal, Correction, and Retraction

Tepak Sirih: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Madani is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of the published record. Post-publication concerns are handled in accordance with applicable Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidance and may result in a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction. Evidence-based discussion of published articles is handled through the journal's Post-Publication Discussion policy.

Manuscript Withdrawal

Authors are strongly discouraged from withdrawing a manuscript after the review process has begun. An author who wishes to withdraw must submit a formal written request to the Editor-in-Chief, stating the reason. A manuscript must not be submitted elsewhere while under consideration by the journal. Once an article has been formally published, it is handled through the correction or retraction procedure below.

Correction

A correction addresses an error or omission that can be resolved without invalidating the principal findings. It may apply to incorrect author names or affiliations, funding or competing-interest statements, errors in figures, photographs, tables, or references, or other inaccuracies. A correction notice identifies the original article, explains the correction, is dated and linked to the article, and substantive amendments are not made silently.

Expression of Concern

An expression of concern may be issued when substantial unresolved questions warrant alerting readers while the evidence does not yet support a final determination. The notice explains the concern without presenting an unproven allegation as an established finding and is updated when the assessment concludes.

Retraction

A retraction applies where there is clear evidence of unreliable work (through fabrication, falsification, or serious error), substantial plagiarism, redundant publication, unethical conduct, or a compromised peer-review process. Retraction corrects the record and alerts readers; its purpose is not to punish authors, and an authorship disagreement alone does not normally justify retraction when the work remains reliable. The retraction notice identifies the article and its reasons, remains freely accessible, and is linked to the article.

Treatment of Retracted Articles and Removal

A retracted article normally remains accessible and is prominently marked RETRACTED and linked to the retraction notice. Complete removal is reserved for exceptional circumstances involving serious legal, privacy, or safety concerns; retraction and removal are distinct actions.

Assessment and Author Responsibilities

Concerns are assessed impartially according to their significance and evidence. Suspected misconduct is handled under the journal's Allegation of Research Misconduct policy. Authors must promptly notify the journal of significant errors in their published work and cooperate in determining an appropriate response.
