Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Responsible Use of Generative AI and Automated Tools

Tepak Sirih: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Madani recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) and other automated tools may support certain aspects of manuscript preparation. Their use must be transparent, responsible, and subject to human oversight. Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and content of their work.

Use of AI by Authors

Authors may use generative AI or other automated tools to support manuscript preparation, including language improvement, editing, and formatting. All AI-assisted output must be carefully reviewed, verified, and validated by the authors.

Any use of generative AI beyond straightforward language correction, editing, or formatting must be transparently disclosed in a Declaration of Generative AI Use section of the manuscript, identifying the tool and describing the nature and purpose of its use.

Generative AI cannot be listed or credited as an author because it cannot assume responsibility for the submitted work. Generative AI must not be used to fabricate, falsify, or misrepresent activities, data, outcomes, images, or references.

Use of AI by Reviewers and Editors

Reviewers and editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not upload manuscripts or unpublished information to publicly accessible AI platforms. Generative AI must not be used to produce peer-review reports or editorial decisions; scientific judgment and editorial responsibility remain with the human reviewer or editor.

Human Responsibility

The use of AI tools does not reduce or transfer the responsibilities of authors, reviewers, or editors. Suspected misuse is evaluated according to the evidence of each case and, where it constitutes misconduct, is handled under the journal's Publication Ethics policy and applicable Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidance.
