Peer Review Process
Peer review
A double-anonymous process focused on quality and constructive improvement.
JPSE conceals author and reviewer identities during review. Editorial decisions remain the responsibility of the journal's editors.
Default review mode: Anonymous Reviewer/Anonymous Author. The system currently allows four weeks to respond to an invitation and four weeks to complete an accepted review. An invitation may specify a different due date.
Review stages
Editorial screening
The editor checks relevance, basic scholarly quality, completeness, and potential integrity concerns.
Reviewer selection
Reviewers are selected for appropriate subject or methodological expertise and asked to disclose conflicts of interest.
Independent assessment
Reviewers assess the contribution, method, argument, evidence, presentation, and ethical considerations.
Editorial decision
The editor considers the reports and may decide to accept, request revision, decline, or seek further review.
Revision and final evaluation
Authors respond to comments point by point. Revised work may be returned to reviewers before a final decision.
Number of reviewers
JPSE has not yet published a fixed minimum number of reviewers for every manuscript. The editor will use the number and mix of reviewers needed for a fair and informed decision.
