KORELASI TINGKAT PENDIDIKAN DENGAN MINAT MENJADI PETANI MILENIAL DI KECAMATAN TAMBUSAI KABUPATEN ROKAN HULU

This study is motivated by the low rate of farmer regeneration and the shift in career orientation among young people in Tambusai District, Rokan Hulu Regency, which is influenced by education level, access to resources, and perceptions of the agricultural sector. The objective of this research is to analyze the level of interest of youth in becoming millennial farmers based on indicators of land access, capital access, and agricultural technology access, as well as to examine the relationship between education level and interest in becoming millennial farmers. The study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 100 respondents aged 19–39 years. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using interval scale techniques and the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results indicate that the level of interest in becoming millennial farmers based on land access obtained an average score of 3.27 and was categorized as very interested. Interest based on capital access recorded an average score of 3.16 and was categorized as interested, while interest based on agricultural technology access achieved an average score of 3.14 and was also categorized as interested. Overall, the level of youth interest in becoming millennial farmers was categorized as interested, with an average score of 3.19. The Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis shows a correlation coefficient of -0.254 with a significance value of 0.005 (<0.05), indicating a negative and statistically significant relationship with a low level of correlation between education level and interest in becoming millennial farmers. These findings suggest that higher levels of education tend to be associated with lower interest in becoming millennial farmers, although such interest has the potential to increase if supported by concrete and well-targeted government policies and programs.
